As marketing and advertising professionals, we get asked all the time how to improve SEO. For those of you who may not be as familiar with that term, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is essentially the practice of making your business more accessible in search results, i.e. Google Search.
An SEO company we are not, however, we do know a little about organic SEO and what a business can do to at least have a fighting chance. In this blog post, we're going to give you three great ways to increase your organic (non paid) SEO. By the way, you can pay companies or individuals to help with your SEO. Just in case you didn't know that.
If you've read any of our materials or follow us on social, you've probably noticed we reference Google a lot. The reason for that is because out of all the search engines in the world, Google is number one. You will never hear anyone say "hey, can you Bing that" or "Yahoo It!". With that being said, since your potential customers and clients are more than likely using Google to find what they're looking for, it goes without saying that you should be doing everything humanly possible to improve you SEO on Google.
So, without further delay, here are our three ways to give your organic SEO a little boost:
#1 Your Google Business Listing
Ok, it may sound redundant to some of you, but you have to, I mean absolutely positively have to make sure your information is current and up to date on Google. How you manage your business on this FREE listing can make or break you (as far as organic reach goes).
Hopefully, if you're reading this, you have already updated all your info on your business listing and are adding pictures, responding to reviews (very important) and checking your insights regularly.
If not, here is the first step to setting up your FREE Google Business Listing:
#2 Use Google Products & Services
I can't even begin to tell you how crucial it is to take advantage of Google's products, such as, Google Plus, Google Posts and YouTube. (Yes, Google owns YouTube ;) Anyway, Google is extremely bias when it comes to their stuff, and rightly so, again, they are the heavy weights in the search engine ring.
What happens when you search a business on Google? In a millisecond or less, you are greeted with a barrage of (hopefully) relevant information that Google has sourced from every website and online registry available. If that business has a G+ page, it will more than likely show up very close to the top, even if there has been little to no engagement.
How do we know this? Because in the 2 years we've been using G+, we've never received a single like or comment on any of our content. Yet, every time our business is searched, there is our G+ page, shining bright like a diamond for the world to see.

#3 Google Virtual Tours
Ever heard of Street View? Of course you have. How about Inside Street View? A few years ago Google rolled out the Inside Street View program (now called Street View Trusted) and the rest is history. For businesses who take part in the program, it's not only a smart move for your organic SEO, but also a great way to allow customers to get a feel for who you are as a business before they walk through your doors.
This is actually a service that we provide and we'd be thrilled to go over the basics with you.
